An 8K is not worth nearly what an 8g is. 8g's are probably the best drivers Altec ever made. Yes he's ridiculous on the shipping.

Edit-There are essentially 3 basic 288's.
1. Original Alnico
2. Alnico with much larger magnet- G has old style phase plug. H has Tangerine.
3. Ceramic- This includes the K and later.

Four I suppose if you want to include GPA's pancake ceramic version.

I have found MANY eBay sellers very open to discuss shipping cost and options. The eBay shipping calculator often makes a hash of it.

If you are sincerely interested in the driver, contact the seller, give him your zip code and ask for the lowest cost shipping option. You might be surprised by what comes back.

I was under the impression that a 291-16B was the same as a 288G if you used a 288 diaphragm. Is that correct or did I misunderstand?
